Epoxy powder anti-corrosion API 5L steel pipe coating is evenly and densely coated on the surface of the derusted metal pipe to isolate it from various corrosive media. It is the basic method of pipeline anti-corrosion. The pipeline is laid in the middle, and the temperature of the pipeline is increased due to the heating and transportation of oil products, which puts forward more requirements on the coating performance. Therefore, pipeline anti-corrosion coatings are increasingly using composite materials or composite structures.

Anti-corrosion coating on the outer wall: the type and conditions of use of the coating material on the outer wall of the pipeline.

②Inner wall anti-corrosion coating: a film applied to the inner wall of the pipe in order to prevent corrosion in the pipe, reduce frictional resistance, and increase the throughput. Commonly used coatings are amine-cured epoxy resin and polyamide epoxy resin, and the coating thickness is 0.038 to 0.2 mm. In order to ensure that the coating is firmly bonded to the pipe wall, the inner wall of the pipe must be surface treated. Since the 1970s, the same material has been used for the coating of the inner and outer walls of the tube, so that the coating of the inner and outer walls of the tube can be carried out at the same time.

③Anti-corrosion and thermal-insulation coating: In order to reduce the heat dissipation from the pipeline to the soil on the medium- and small-diameter heat-transporting crude oil or fuel oil pipeline, a composite layer of thermal insulation and anti-corrosion is added to the outside of the pipeline. The commonly used thermal insulation material is rigid polyurethane foam, and the applicable temperature is -185 to 95 °C. This material has a soft texture. In order to improve its strength, a layer of high-density polyethylene is applied outside the insulation layer to form a composite material structure to prevent groundwater from seeping into the insulation layer.

Composition: 1. Steel pipe: seamless steel pipe, straight seam steel pipe, spiral steel pipe and other steel pipes 2: epoxy powder anti-corrosion layer.

Characteristics of epoxy powder anti-corrosion steel pipe for natural gas pipeline:

1: Fusion-bonded epoxy powder coating is a new type of anti-corrosion coating developed in the past 30 years. The epoxy powder coating is applied by electrostatic spraying technology and formed into a film at one time.

2: The coating has the advantages of simple coating operation, no pollution, good impact resistance and bending resistance, and high temperature resistance.

3: Excellent mechanical and physical properties.

4: Excellent corrosion resistance, acid, alkali, salt, oil, water, etc.

5: It can play a long-lasting anti-corrosion effect in a large temperature range.

6: The curing speed is fast, the curing time is short, and the coating efficiency is high, which is suitable for the flow operation.

epoxy powder coated steel pipe anti-corrosion layer thickness standard

The thickness of the anti-corrosion layer of epoxy powder-coated steel pipes is mainly stipulated by the national standard “General Technical Conditions for Buried Steel Pipes” (GB/T 17306-1998). According to this standard, the thickness of the anti-corrosion layer should meet the following requirements:

  1. For ordinary-level anti-corrosion layers, such as polyethylene (PE), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and chlorinated polyethylene (PVC), the minimum thickness should be 0.7mm; for reinforced-level anti-corrosion layers, such as glass fiber For reinforced polyethylene (FRP), epoxy coal pitch (API) and epoxy ceramic (EPO), the minimum thickness should be 1.2mm.

  2. In practical applications, due to the influence of factors such as the topography of the pipeline, soil type, groundwater level, etc., the thickness of the anti-corrosion layer needs to be adjusted according to specific conditions. Generally speaking, the thickness of the anti-corrosion layer should be clearly specified in the design documents.

epoxy powder anti-corrosion API 5L steel pipe high adhesion and excellent chemical and corrosion resistance make epoxy an excellent, time-tested, protective coating for pipes and valves. It has been used successfully in gas and oil pipelines since the 1960s, with many of those lines continuing to be effectively coated and safely in use.
