Hot Rolled Astm A106 Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe is commonly used in the construction of oil and gas refineries, power plants, petrochemical plants, boilers, and ships where the piping must transport fluids and gases that exhibit higher temperatures and pressure levels.
What is a seamless steel pipe?
A seamless steel pipe is a circular pipe having a hollow section and no seams around it. The seamless steel pipe is made of carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel ingot or solid tube blank, and then is made by hot rolling, cold rolling or cold drawing. Seamless pipes are considered superior to welded pipes as they are built using monolithic steel billets, with intrinsic mechanical strength, without seam welds.
Seamless steel pipe, as the name suggests, is a pipe without a seam or a weld-joint. Seamless steel pipe is a tubular section or hollow cylinder, usually but not necessarily of circular cross-section, used mainly to convey substances which can flow — liquids and gases (fluids), slurries, powders and masses of small solids.

ASTM A106 / ASME SA106 pipes are seamless carbon steel pipes used for high tempertaure applications (up to 750 degrees F). A106 pipes are particulary suited whenever the trasported fluid has either high temperature or high pressure (or both combined).

Hdrostatic Test of A106 pipes:
The hydrotest shall apply a pressure equal to 60% of the minimum yield strenght for at least 5 seconds at atmospheric conditions. The maximum pressure shall not exceed 2500 psi for pipes up to 3 inches, and 2800 for larger sizes. If additional, non standard, tests are executed, the pipe shall bear an "S" mark on each lenght or pipe bundle.
